These fabulous old wooden oars are believed to have come from a life boat off the ship MV 'Talinga', and are a whopping 5-metres long.
An amazing piece to fit to the wall in a long entrance hall, or hang from the ceiling. They would look fantastic in a warehouse or commercial setting. Perhaps on the wall of a waterside restaurant or function venue.
The two oars vary slightly, one has 'TALINGA' engraved on the blade and has three metal bands, the other has is a little longer and has one metal band on the blade.
History of MV Talinga - Built in 1957, this Bulk Carrier was 7,582 gross tons & 458' long. Built for the Australian Shipping Board by Blyth Dock & Shipbuilding Co, Blyth and transerred to the Australian National Line.
In July 1970 it was sold to Elios Compania Navigation S.A Panama and renamed Gallantry. In 1971 it ran aground during cyclone 'Rose' and due to the damage was consequentially scrapped in 1972.
Due the the length of these oars, no shipping has been calculated as it will vary greatly for each destination. Please get in contact for a custom shipping quote or they are available for pick up from our Noosa warehouse.
