This beautiful old timber chest is called a jodang, and was used as a bridal chest.

Traditionally the grooms family would craft a chest for the bride, and it would be carried in the bridal procession on a pole, which is why there is a hole on each edge.

The timber has aged beautifully. Perfect as a blanket box, or for shoes by the door.
