Pennant/Flag 2nd Substitute #7687

Current stock: 0

This signal flag/pennant represents 2nd substitute. Substitute flags were used when the pennant or flag before needed to be repeated.

Nearly all maritime nations recognise the same flag signal alphabet. They were used to spell out short messages to each other between ships.

Strung end to end and hung bow to stern from the rigging they were used to dress up ships for ceremonial and festive occasions.

Today they make great coastal home decor and are meant to stand up to the ocean winds. They are all sewn, not printed, and this one is made from a nylon blend. Strong & light-weight.

Measures approx: 70m x 58cm
