Reversing Oars #5229

Current stock: 0

Now these oars are something special!

Over 100 years old these oars are called reversing oars and they allowed the rower to face forwards towards the bow rather than backwards towards the stern.

Invented by F.A. Allen (who also invented the duck call whistle) the intention was that it would be easier to sneak up on ducks while hunting if you could see them as you rowed!

Also known as grasshoppers, they have a jointed oarlock mechanism that allowed the hunter to face forward.

The mechanism is currently seized, but may be fixable with some oil and elbow grease!
