Sourcing Trip

Sourcing Trip

Recently, I returned from a week sourcing in Indonesia

visiting my lovely suppliers who source high and low across

the Spice Islands for beautiful wares for me to bring back to Australia.

~

This time I stayed at the beautiful Colony Hotel again.

I love staying here as I feel so at home with the beautiful

Dutch Colonial style rooms and also as a woman often traveling

on my own, not only is this place is beautiful,

central, but I feel safe here.

~

A bonus is that it is right next door to Kim Soo -

a favourite homewares store and my favourite place to

have breakfast - a pitaya bowl & cappuccino!

~

This time I found a few beautiful old shop cabinets,

an old postal sorter cabinet, Dutch Colonial furniture pieces

and lots of stools of all different shapes and sizes.

~

And, a variety of pots and demijohns from Borneo.

~

I also met up with artisans that create many of our unique products

such as carved wooden clam shells and rattan clam shells.

Both styles take several days to make and all by hand.

~

As seen here at the Colony Hotel, each room is illuminated

with a Colonial style lantern.

~

I have always loved these and finally, have found them

and ordered these in two sizes.

~

And finally, we have an extensive new range of products that

we have designed and had made by a group of artisans.

They included new brass hardware and decor,

recycled metal decor pieces, wooden buoys/strings,

fishing baskets and so much more.

~

I can't wait for it to arrive and show you everything when we unload.

So stay tuned as the first container lands at the end of March

and the following one a month or so later.
