This interesting vessel is a cheese mould.

French from the 1930's freshly made cheese would have been shaped in the mould with the liquid free to drain through the holes on sides and bottom. 

In wonderful condition the raw texture and colour of the stoneware makes it lovely and unique. 

A perfect little styling piece for a vintage kitchen.
